If you or a man you know is homeless or at risk of homelessness, please contact us via the Contact Us page. Alternatively, please complete the Client Referral Form or ask someone to help you complete and lodge the form.

A Support worker from Bethlehem House will contact you to talk to you about our services and your needs. If we can offer you accommodation and support – and you agree to the terms of residency – we will arrange to introduce you to our services and Bethlehem House.

Please be aware that there can be a short waiting times for a bedroom in periods of high demand. We will put you on our waiting list and maintain contact with you until a room or bed becomes available.

Please be aware that you will be expected to pay a contribution for your bed and board. We can also help you with a whole range of issues and can assist you with moving back out into affordable housing.

    Crisis Accommodation

    Bethlehem House can provide a temporary home for homeless men and men at risk of homelessness at the crisis centre in Warwick St, North Hobart. Temporary residents living at Bethlehem House, usually remain at the home, with support, while they rebuild their lives. Bethlehem House provides single rooms with shared bathroom facilities, as well as:

    • A private courtyard garden;
    • Catered meals service
    • Dining facilities;
    • Fitness facilities;
    • Internet
    • Laundry
    • Priority access to affordable long-term housing
    • Quiet areas
    • Recreation lounge

    Bethlehem House provides a holistic range of supports along three pillars – mental, physical, and housing.

    From the day a new resident arrives, Bethlehem House offers men in crisis the services and support they need to rebuild their lives. With a philosophy of offering a hand up, not a handout, qualified and experienced caseworkers will help residents to work towards individual goals, including managing finances, building healthy relationships, arranging access to legal services, and assisting with referrals for health and benefits needs.

    Wellbeing

    Bethlehem House takes the health and wellbeing of every resident extremely seriously and has established relationships with local medical services providers that offer a weekly drop-in clinic. Individual appointments are available to all residents by arrangement with duty staff.

    Health and Wellbeing services include:

    • Addiction and substance abuse recovery programmes.
    • Breakfast service between 7:30am and 9:30am for resident homeless men.
    • Bulk-billed healthcare.
    • Bulk-billed pharmacy.
    • Catered evening meal between 4:45pm and 5:30pm for resident homeless men.
    • Counselling
    • Light lunch for residents.
    • Drop-in clinics.
    • Men’s Groups
    • Nutritious meals.
